Jewelry Care

GENERAL INFORMATION

It is natural for metals, especially for brass, bronze, and copper to tarnish over time.

If items are brass, copper or bronze, please clean thoroughly. For items made with a patina finish, lightly buff the top layer so the pattern will shine. Items made from gold and silver will tarnish much slower.

Keep adjustments or movements to a minimum. This will increase the lifespan of your jewelry.  Excessive bending of metal may cause pieces to break.

WHAT WILL MAKE MY JEWELRY TARNISH FASTER?

Saltwater, spray sunscreen and other body care products will gum up the metal. Please be aware of jewelry care when swimming in the ocean, in humid areas near the ocean and applying lotion, oils etc. I recommend applying body care products before putting on jewelry.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO POLISH AND STORE MY JEWELRY?

I suggest Pro Polish Pads or polishing cloths.  I use Pro Polish Pads and have wonderful results. You can purchase these on Amazon and Etsy or from jewelry supply stores such as Otto Frei and Rio Grande.

Storing jewelry while not being worn in anti-tarnish bags, zip-lock bags, zip-lock bags with anti-tarnish tabs will all help slow down the tarnish process.
